Palmer Has 14 Kills as Volleyball Wins Thriller at Southwestern College

The Pima Community College volleyball team (5-11) stepped away from ACCAC conference play and won a five-set thriller in Chula Vista, CA on Friday.

The Aztecs used a strong serve game and recovered after dropping a lopsided fourth set to defeat Southwestern College (1-6) 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 14-25, 15-12.

Sophomore Aleksandra Palmer (Thatcher HS) had 14 kills and nine digs. Fellow sophomore Aubrey Lomeli (St. Mary's HS) closed out the match with 11 kills and three aces.

Freshmen Hannah Gerard (Canyon del Oro HS) and Anissa Conrad (Sahuaro HS) showed a strong serve game. Gerard finished with 27 assists and five aces while Conrad posted 21 digs and five aces.

The Aztecs will play in the San Diego City College Tournament on Saturday.
