Aztec Volleyball Takes Second at San Diego CC Tournament; Conrad and Palmer Named All-Tournament

The Pima Community College volleyball team (8-11) competed in the San Diego City College Tournament on Saturday.

After sweeping through pool play, the Aztecs earned the No. 1 seed and defeated Cuyamaca College 25-17 but fell in the championship match to host San Diego City College 25-17.

Sophomore Aleksandra Palmer (Thatcher HS) and freshman Anissa Conrad (Sahuaro HS) were seclected to the All-Tournament team.

In pool play, the Aztecs defeated Chaffey College in four sets 25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 25-23. Then they went on to sweep Cuyamaca College in straight sets 25-9, 25-21, 25-12. In their final pool play match, the Aztecs defeated host school San Diego City College in a fifth set tie-breaker 28-26, 25-23, 23-25, 13-25, 15-12.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play on Wednesday when they host Mesa Community College at the West Campus Gymnasium. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
