Marissa Lopez earns All-ACCAC and All-Region as Women's Cross Country takes Runner-Up at Region I, Division I-ACCAC Championships

The Pima Community College women's cross country team kick off the postseason after competing at the NJCAA Region I/ACCAC Championships on Saturday held at Central Arizona College.
- The Aztecs took second place in Region I, Division I with a score of 45 points but finished in fifth place among the ACCAC conference field with 122 points.
- Sophomore Marissa Lopez (Sahuarita HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs in the 5K race as she took fourth place in Region I, Division I with a time of 21 minutes, 01.6 seconds. She finished 15th among the ACCAC Conference competitiors. Lopez earned both All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division I honors.
- Freshman Julia Lundberg (North Canyon HS) closed out the race with a time of 22:54.1 while freshman Kate Shoemaker (Heritage Academy Mesa) crossed the finish line at 23:09.2.
- Freshman Naiomi Hereim (San Tan Foothills HS) finished at 24:46.0 and freshman Iyannah Tolliver (Sahuaro HS) clocked out at 25:12.2.
- Lopez, Lundberg, Shoemaker, Hereim and Tolliver all earned All-Region I, Division I honors as the top 12 in the race secured the spots.
The Aztecs will compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Saturday, November 12 held at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, FL. The race is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. Tucson time.
