Aztecs Women's Cross Country runs first 6K race of the season at Highlander Invitational
The Pima Community College women's cross country team competed in the Highlander Invitational on Saturday in Riverside, CA.
- The Aztecs finished in 21st place out of 23 teams with a total of 650 team points. Central Arizona College placed 19th with a total of 545 and Mesa Community College did not place in the final team standings.
- Freshman Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as she finished the 6K race (3.73 miles) in 167th place out of 256 competitors with a time of 23:59.4. Her finish gave Pima 121 points.
- Freshman Mariah Cruz (Mountain View HS) placed 185th with a time of 24:29.9 and 127 team points while fellow freshman Linda Rivero (Desert View HS) crossed the finish line at 24:40.9 for 131 points.
- Freshman Alyssa Perez (Agua Fria HS) clocked at 24:42.7, which gave the Aztecs 132 points and freshman Sara Bredenkamp (Kingman Academy) had a time of 25:07.5 and 139 points.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Glendale. Race times are TBA.
