Aztec Cross Country Team Take Fourth Place at Dave Murray Invitational

The Pima Community College cross country teams competed in the Dave Murray Invitational on Friday at the Randolph North Golf Course.

The Aztec women's team took fourth place out of five teams with 128 points. Sophomore Samantha Felzien had the top finish for the Aztecs as she took 30th place out of 47 runners with a time of 16 minutes, 19.1 seconds for the 4K (2.5-mile) race.

Freshman Alondra Carrasco placed 38th with a time of 17:55.3 while fellow freshman Erika Rios (Sabino HS) crossed the finish line in 41st at 18:28.7. Freshman Arianna Roche (Cienega HS) was 42nd with a time of 18:34.7 and freshman Monique Ochoa (Sahuaro HS) finished 44th at 19:02.2.

In the men's 6K (3.7-mile) race, the Aztecs finished in fourth place out of five teams with a score of 130 points. Sophomore David Fernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as he placed 23rd out of 47 runners with a time of 20:27.5.

Sophomore Armando Antonio Jr. crossed the finish line in 30th place with a time of 21:19.7. Freshman Alonso Sodari (Walden Grove HS) took 37th place at 21:50.1 while fellow freshman Gerrit Ralston placed 38th with a time of 21:57.4. Freshman Victor Bustamante (Flowing Wells HS) was 41st at 22:27.1.

The Aztecs will compete in the ACCAC Conference Championships at Villago Park in Casa Grande on Friday. The women's race will be at 8:00 a.m. and the men's race will follow at 8:45 a.m.
