The Pima Community College Athletics department has a new leader. Ken Jacome, the Pima baseball head coach for the last six years, accepted the Athletic Director’s position. Jacome is 214-90 in six seasons. He picked up his 200th win on March 19 at Glendale Community College. He will remain the program’s head coach.

The Pima Men's Golf team took second place in the final team standings at the Region I Championships. The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out the 2024 season on Thursday in the Region I, Division I Championships held at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler.

Sophomore Broden Cahoon took second place in the Decathlon with 6373 points while fellow sophomore Abraham Valenzuela (Palo Verde HS) placed second in the 10,000 meters race at 32:30.78. The Pima Community College men’s track & field team began postseason competition on Monday and Tuesday at the Region I Multi’s Championships held at Mesa Community College.

Freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) finished fourth in the Heptatlon with 4081 points while freshman Mariah Cruz (Mountain View HS) placed fifth in the 10,000 meters race with a time of 46:26.09. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team began postseason competition on Monday and Tuesday at the Region I Multi’s Championships held at Mesa Community College.

Freshman Collin Senior hit a walk-off home run in the first game and finished the day with two homers as he went 4-6 with four RBIs and two runs scored as the No. 10 ranked Aztecs baseball team beat Arizona Western College 4-3 but lost 15-9. The Pima Community College baseball team (41-13, 24-11 in ACCAC) hosted its final regular season home doubleheader on Tuesday against Arizona Western College (36-14, 23-13) at the West Campus Aztec Field.

The Pima Community College men’s golf team is competing at the Region I, Division I Championships at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler, AZ.

The Pima Community College softball team’s (35-10, 22-4 in ACCAC) improbable winning streak came to an end on Tuesday at Central Arizona College (18-17, 14-14).

Sophomore Nick Arias (Tucson Magnet HS) finished 3 for 7 with an RBI, three runs scored and a home run while Garett Hicks threw five and one-third innings of shutout ball in relief to get the win as the No. 16 ranked Aztecs baseball team swept Cochise College 11-2 and 8-4. The Pima Community College baseball team (40-12, 24-10 in ACCAC) secured its second straight 40+ win season on Saturday after earning a sweep on the road at Cochise College (33-21, 20-16).

The Pima Community College softball team (35-8, 22-2 in ACCAC) kept its streak alive but were forced to come back from seven runs down on Saturday in an ACCAC doubleheader matchup against Central Arizona College (16-17, 12-14).

Pima Community College baseball player Diego Alvarez (Sahuarita HS) earned praise from the ACCAC conference for his pitching performance last week against previously No. 2 ranked Central Arizona College.

Pima Community College softball players Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) and Jazmyne Waddell (San Manuel HS) were key to the Aztecs continuing their winning ways for the week April 7-13 and received accolades from the ACCAC conference.
