Sotelo advances to consolation finals in singles and doubles at NJCAA Championships

The Pima Community College men's tennis team will have a representative play in the final day of competition at the NJCAA Division I National Championship.

Freshman Francisco Sotelo (Cholla HS) will play in the No. 4 singles consolation finals on Friday after his opponent forfeited the semifinal match. Sotelo will play Callan Shinall from Meridian Community College (MS) in the finals.

Sotelo and No. 2 doubles partner Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) advanced to the consolation finals after a wild match in which they beat Giovanni Fragalle and Kaio Massac from Barton Community College (KS) in three sets 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8). They will play James Corns and Thompson Tong in Friday's finals.

Sophomore Marc Avalos (Sunnyside HS) fell in his No. 1 singles consolation semifinal to Andres Graterol from Jacksonville College (TX) 6-3, 6-3.

The final day of the NJCAA Division I Championship is tomorrow at the Collin County Tennis Facilities.
