Fair and Siml improve on national qualifiers at the Jim Mielke Indoor Invitational
The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field team competed in their final regular season indoor meet on Saturday at the West Campus track.
- Freshman Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS) improved on her national qualifier as she took first place in the long jump with a mark of 18-feet, 3-inches (5.56 meters). She is ranked No. 9 in the country for the event.
- Freshman Mary Siml took first place in the 1,000 meters race and improved her national qualifying time to 3 minutes, 10.13 seconds. She improved by almost two seconds from last week's finish of 3:12. 07.
- The Aztecs will send 11 athletes to compete in 11 events at the NJCAA National Indoor Championships. Here's a look at where some of the Aztecs rank nationally in their respected events:
- Sophomore Hailey Myles (Boulder Creek HS) – No. 6 in the women's triple jump (38-feet, 9.75-inches)
- Sophomore Anahiramar Lopez (Tucson HS) – No. 8 in the women's high jump (5-feet, 3.25-inches)
- Sophomore Tyler Valenzuela (Canyon del Oro HS) – No. 8 in the men's pole vault (14-feet, 3.25-inches)
- Freshman Jaylen Coleman – No. 9 in the men's triple jump (48-feet, 1.25-inches)
- Sophomore Mecca Marks (Desert Edge HS) – No. 10 in the women's triple jump (36-feet, 9.50-inches)
The NJCAA Indoor National Championships will be Friday and Saturday, Mar. 1-2 at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.
