Pima Community College moves soccer, volleyball, basketball seasons to Spring 2021

Tucson, AZ -- Pima Community College (PCC) will move the soccer, basketball and volleyball seasons to Spring 2021 in order to align with national guidelines and keep students and the community safe during the COVID pandemic.

Aztecs Athletics features 33 student-athletes on the NJCAA All-Academic teams

The Pima Community College Athletics program produced another 30+ student-athletes as the NJCAA All-Academic teams were released on Friday on the NJCAA website.

Aztecs cross country and track & field teams signed Marissa Lopez, a distance runner and sprinter from Sahuarita High School. She has a personal-record this season in the 200 meter race at 30.15 seconds. She has PRs in the 400 meter (1:02.23), 800 meter (2:24.35), 5,000 meter (19:58.0) ans 3.2 mile (22:51.7) races. The Pima Community College women’s cross country and track & field teams gained strength for both programs as they signed Marissa Lopez from Sahuarita High School.

The Pima Community College track & field team added to its men’s roster as it signed Shaun Buttigieg-Brown from Marana Mountain View High School.

The Pima Community College track & field team added more experience to its men’s sprints as it signed Ceazer Chavez from Deming High School in New Mexico.

Distance runner Mykayla Tarwater (Tucson Magnet HS) signed her letter of intent to compete for the Aztecs cross country and track & field teams starting in the 2020-21 season. She set a new personal-record in the 5K during the cross country season with a time of 23 minutes, 04.0 seconds. She also has PRs in the 800 meters (2:51.63) and 1600 meters (6:23.21). Dejanae Wilmore (Tucson Magnet HS), a sprinter, signed her letter of intent to compete for the Aztecs track & field team. Wilmore spent the 2020 season at Easter New Mexico University, where she set two personal-records in the 60 meters (8.05 seconds) and the 200 meters (27. 19) during the Indoor season.
