(Updated) Aztecs track & field set four national qualifying marks at Aztecs Outdoor Meet; Gill and Thompson set PRs at Sun Angel
The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the West Campus track & field on Friday and came away with four more outdoor national qualifiers.
- Sophomore Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) earned her fourth national qualifying time of the outdoor season as she finished the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11 minutes, 36.62 seconds. Her time currently puts her No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I standings. She set national qualifying times in the 800, 1,500 and 5,000 meter races.
- Sophomore Hailey Myles (Boulder Creek HS) improved on her national qualifying mark and set a personal-record in the triple jump for the second straight week. She finished with a mark of 40-feet, 6.25-inches. Her previous mark was 39-1.50. She also set a national qualifying mark in the long jump with a mark of 18-feet, 4.50-inches.
- Freshman Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS) earned a national qualifying mark in the long jump as she finished with a jump of 18-feet, 7-inches.
- Sophomore Kaylen Fox (Sahuaro HS) earned herself a national qualifier in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:21.59.
- Sophomore Mecca Marks (Desert Edge HS) set a new personal-record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.15 seconds.
- In men's competition, freshman Jaylen Coleman took first place in the long jump with a mark of 22-feet, 4-inches.
- The Aztecs have set 11 national qualifying times/marks so far this outdoor season.
- The Aztecs also competed in the Sun Angel Invitational at Arizona State University. Sophomore Deshawn Gill (Sahuaro HS) set a personal-record in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.24 seconds. Fellow sophomore Erick Thompson (Sahuarita HS) also set his own personal-record in the 400 meter race with a time of 48.86.
The Aztecs will compete at the Triton Invitational hosted by the University of California San Diego next Saturday.
