Myles and Coleman claim triple jump crowns at Region I Championships

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams closed out competition at the NJCAA Region I Championships on Thursday at Mesa Community College.

  • The Aztecs women's team took third place with a total of 135.5 points. Central Arizona College took first place 257 while Mesa Community College was second with 179.5. The men's team took fourth place with 103 points.
  • Sophomore Hailey Myles (Boulder Creek HS) became a two-time Region I Triple Jump champion as she finished with a winning-jump of 39-feet, 6.25-inches (12.04 meters). It was her second region title as she won the long jump event on Tuesday. This is the fifth straight year the Aztecs have been tops in the women's triple jump event.
  • Freshman Jaylen Coleman won the men's triple jump championship as he finished with a winning-jump of 46-feet, 2-inches (14.11 meters). It is the fourth straight year the Aztecs have won the Region I men's triple jump.
  • The Aztecs claimed with five region championships.

  • Kaylen Fox (Sahuaro HS) – Second place in 800 meters (2:20.43, Personal-record) (8 pts)
  • Berkeley Larsen (Ironwood Ridge HS), Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS), Kymori Henderson (South Mountain HS), Annabella Spencer (Sahuaro HS) – Second place in 4x100 relay (48.90) (8 pts)
  • Mary Siml – Third place in 800 meters (2:22.04, Personal-record) (6 pts); Fourth place in 1,500 meters (4:58.47 (5 pts)
  • Mecca Marks (Desert Edge HS) – Third place in 100 meter hurdles (14.87, Personal-record) (6 pts); Third place in Triple Jump (36-feet, 3-inches (11.06 meters)) (6 pts)
  • Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) – Third place in 1,500 meters (4:52.26) (6 pts)
  • Anahiramar Lopez (Tucson HS) – Tied for third place in High Jump (5-feet, 0-inches (1.53 meters)) (5.5 pts)
  • Annabella Spencer (Sahuaro HS) – Fourth place in 100 meters (12.77) (5 pts)
  • Quinn Williams (Canyon del Oro HS) – Fourth place in Triple Jump (32-feet, 2-inches (9.81 meters)) (5 pts)
  • Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS) – Fifth place in 100 meters (12.85) (4 pts)
  • Berkeley Larsen (Ironwood Ridge HS) – Sixth place in 100 meters (12.88) (3 pts); Sixth place in 200 meters (26.73) (3 pts)
  • Rainbow Hoss (Mountain View HS) – Seventh place in 5,000 meters (21:59.52) (2 pts)
  • Kymori Henderson (South Mountain HS) – Eighth place in 200 meters (14.87) (1 pt)
  • Iriana Sanchez (Cienega HS) – Eighth place in 800 meters (2:34.23) (1 pt)

  • Andrew Arvayo (Mountain View HS) – Third place in Triple Jump (44-feet, 4-inches (13.52 meters)) (6 pts); Sixth place in High Jump (5-feet, 7-inches (1.73 meters)) (3 pts)

The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Division I Championships from May 16-18 at the Ross Black Track in Hobbs, NM.
