Aztecs track & field adds four to incoming class
The Pima Community College track & field team is building its 2019 incoming class.
The Aztecs added a pair of two-time state champion jumpers. Jeffrey Jones is from Holbrook High School, where he holds the school record in the triple jump with a mark of 47-feet, 11-inches. His best in the long jump is at 22-feet, 4-inches. The Aztecs also signed Malik Whitaker from Hamilton High School. He is a two-time state champion in the high jump. His person-best is 6-feet, 8-inches.
The Aztecs received a comittment from jumper Mitchell Effings (Flowing Wells HS). He was a state champion this season in the triple jump. His best is 46-feet.
On the women's side, the Aztecs signed Cyanna LaVetter, a sprinter from Salpointe Catholic High School. Her personal record in the 100 meters is 12.36 seconds which was set in her junior year. She set a 200 meter personal-best as a senior with a time of 25.89. She also set personal-records as part of the 4x100 (51.60) and 4x400 (4:22.68) relay teams.
