Shaffer and Ross combine for 15 kills but Aztecs Volleyball drops road match at Eastern Arizona College

The Pima Community College volleyball team (8-14, 4-6 in ACCAC) lost its fifth straight match on Saturday as it fell to Eastern Arizona College (17-10, 6-3) in Thatcher.

  • The Aztecs battled and played extra points in the third set but dropped the match to the Gila Monsters (Division I) 25-17, 25-14, 30-28.
  • Sophomore Christina Shaffer (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) finished with eight kills while fellow sophomore Sasha Ross (Canyon del Oro HS) had seven kills and three blocks.
  • Freshman Haylee Gilleland (Flagstaff HS) closed it out with 26 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Morgan Hains (Canyon del Oro HS) finished with 21 digs and two aces.

The Aztecs look to get back on track when they will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday against Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 7:00 p.m.
