Gilleland's double-double highlights as Volleyball stymies No. 6 Scottsdale CC to close regular season

The Aztecs volleyball team closed out the regular season with a signature victory after upsetting No. 6 Scottsdale Community College in four sets (19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19). The Pima Community College volleyball team (16-12, 12-6 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Friday against Scottsdale Community College (17-4, 14-4).

  • The Aztecs upset the No. 6 ranked Artichokes in four sets 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 winning three unanswered games. Pima won two of the three meetings against Scottsdale during the regular season. The Aztecs set a new program record with 12 ACCAC conference wins.
  • Sophomore Haylee Gilleland (Flagstaff HS) finished the match with 16 kills, 14 digs and three blocks while fellow sophomore Elli Meinke (Ironwood Ridge HS) posted 12 kills and four aces.
  • Sophomore Taylor Crawford (Ironwood Ridge HS) closed out the match with 54 assists, three aces and six kills.
  • Sophomore Kenna Simon finished with nine kills and two blocks and sophomore Jasmin Joseph (Tanque Verde HS) had 17 digs and two aces.

The Aztecs will be the No. 3 seed at the Region I, Division II Tournament. All matches in the double elimination tournament will be at No. 1 seed Glendale Community College. The Aztecs will open tournament play on Thursday against No. 2 seeded Scottsdale Community College at 4:00 p.m.
